Stevie Nicks, often referred to as the queen of rock n' roll, has become a staple in American music culture. When thinking of her, one might also think of the 70s or even better times. Stevie Nicks rose to fame during her time in the band Fleetwood Mac, however, after her time spent in the band, she began her solo
career. She became very successful, and to this day remains as one of the greatest artists to have ever lived- due to her song writing and angelic but rocker voice. The Stevie Nicks fandom has been around since the 70s, and today, has garnered even more fans. The Fandom
For starters, the Stevie Nicks fandom can be found on almost all forms of media. Facebook groups, Reddit boards, Pinterest, TikTok and even Twitter are just a few media sites where the fandom adores their idol. |

Edits of the artist(6),discussions and fan art can be found on all these platforms. Personally speaking, I am a huge Stevie Nicks fan- I recently got a tattoo in honor of her! I am a member of several Facebook groups and Reddit boards, and here are some things I have noticed in my time spent in these groups: - Stevie Nicks has a very diverse fandom: people of all cultures and ages are very active in the groups.
- Many fans associate different aspects with the singer and her music.
- For many, they grew up with her.
Being that Nicks rose to fame in the early 70s, it is no shock that her fan base ranges in ages. Those that watched as she first became more relevant in the music industry have still followed her to this day. Her music is truly timeless, and because of that, people born in the 2000s have also followed the artist. In recent years, Nicks even made appearances on the hit show American Horror Story, where she plays "the White Witch" due to many rumors that she practiced witchcraft in her day.
In these groups, it is clear that many associate Nicks with the 70s, which for many, represents easier and simpler times. Often, the 70s represent the hippies, rock n' roll, and just overall peaceful times.
While in these groups, I asked "what is it about Stevie Nicks that keeps you in the fandom?"
Some responses are as followed:
Facebook Group Responses (Mainly older fans)(1):
"What’s not to love she’s beautiful, classy, Sweet , and one of the best Singer and song writers in the world. Her songs hit home with every one."
"She has been a major part of my life!"
"Just the sound of her voice. Beyond distinct. She could sing one word and we would all know it’s her. That’s rare. Non existent now"
"Listening to her music helped me in several rough spots in my life. Plus the magical mystery of her helped too"
As seen from the responses, many love the uniqueness about the singer, and her mysteriously witchy music.
Reddit Group Responses (Mainly younger/middle Aged)(4):
"My father! His music taste influenced me a lot when I was younger and even now! I love how open and kind the fandom is."
"When I first listened to Second Hand News and The Chain, I was amazed by the backing vocals so I looked it up and I saw that it was Stevie Nicks. I watched Fleetwood Mac performances on YouTube and there's just something in the way Stevie performs. She's hypnotizing."
"I love her solo work! Her voice is so good and her solo albums just fitted all my strange teenager vibes and emotions so well. Now I’m kinda grown up (24 lol) and it instantly takes me back to when I was 15-16."
The younger fans are seen to have been influenced by their parents, and even for them are taken back to simpler times in their lives when listening to her music.
Conclusion
