Just Two Girls in a Country Song: Maddie and Tae
Best known for their hit "Girl in a Country Song," Maddie and Tae took the country music world by storm back in 2014. The duo met in Dallas at a showcase in 2010 and balanced finishing high school with traveling to Nashville to perform. After graduating, the friends moved to Nashville and signed with Dot Records in 2014. They co-wrote and co-produced their first hit "Girl in a Country Song," taking a shot at what is known as "Bro Country" to call out male country artists for the way they portray females in their songs. The country music world has been loving them ever since. In 2017 they signed with UGM Nashville after their previous studio closed. In 2018 they released their next hits "Friends Don't" and "Die from a Broken Heart". As two very talented singers, song writers, and instrumentalists, there is no doubt that these two will be on the country music scene for years to come.
Fans of Maddie and Tae are predominately female, as most of their songs speak about their personal experiences or that of their friends and family. Their song "Friends Don't" was written about Maddie Marlow's sister. As such, many female can find themselves resonating with their songs.
Maddie and Tae's fans are active on social media. The duo boast many social media fan pages, like the Maddie and Tae Fan Club page on Facebook, Maddie and Tae Fans on Twitter, and more. They also have multiple fan websites. The two often talk to their fans on the Instagram and Facebook pages, as well as posting videos on their YouTube channel to talk to their fans.
Plenty of fans have done covers of their favorite Maddie and Tae songs, and you could spend all day listening to them. After all, what better way to show an artist that you love their music than by singing it yourself? One of my favorite covers is Amanda Nolan singing "Die From a Broken Heart".
As Maddie and Tae are still mostly only known in the country music sector, there are plenty of people who haven't heard of them or their music. The hear the words "country music" and instantly get put off, as country music gets such a bad stigma from most people. But, if you were to give them a listen, I can guarantee that you'll be a fan too!
